You can do it in the another way..like make the selection of face then ctrl+shift+c , then make a new layer using ctrl+shift+n, and then ctrl+shift+v…so dat ur cutting area will place above the original face.

I can’t get the mask selection to blend with the rest of the picture. I know it has to be something simple but I can’t figure it out…

I am a beginner, I keep getting stuck at the same point.
I open the document.
In the layers palette it says background, I double click on that and it says Layer 0, which I rename ‘background’
then i select the face with the pen tool, save the path and right click ‘make the selection’

I copy and invert…
then make a layer mask and the cut out of the face disappears off the body.
I make a new layer, but when I try and paste nothing happens except 3 little anchor points appear but no face!!
What am I doing wrong???

@C: Have you read technical blogs before? Information is usually accurate, however, minute details generally are not covered. People such as the author of this blog are giving information of their own free time, no warranty expressed or implied. If their goal was to give you every tiny step-by-step detail, they could write a book and probably make some money off of it. Stop being a jerk and thank the person for giving you some information that you didn’t know before.
